Is the Subaru Crosstrek 2022 reliable? A new Consumer Reports ranking says the Crosstrek is now scoring the most reliable small SUV and is among the ten most reliable new cars you can buy today. CR says the Crosstrek and nine other models listed below will give owners fewer problems than their competitors.

The ten most reliable cars for 2022

The ten most reliable cars are the Lexus GX, Kia Niro Electric, Toyota Prius Prime, Toyota Prius, Cadillac XT5, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Honda Insight, Toyota Highlander, Subaru Crosstrekand Mazda CX-9.

Of the ten cars that excel in reliability, the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek scores 86 out of 100 and is the ninth best new model. Subaru has made no changes to the 2022 Crosstrek, and according to Consumer Reports, the subcompact SUV scores a perfect 5/5 overall reliability rating. The 2022 Crosstrek improves one point from last year’s confidence score of 85.

CR says: “We expect the Subaru Crosstrek to be much more reliable than the average new car.” The 2022 Crosstrek is number one of the fourteen subcompact SUVs overall. For 2021 models, the in-car electronics, bodywork and powertrain all scored 4/5 points for owner-reported trouble spots.

What is the price of the Crosstrek 2022?

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek comes in five trim levels for customers. The base trim costs $24,320, Premium ($25,470), Sport ($28,670), Limited ($30,170), and Crosstrek Hybrid ($37,520). Prices include destination and delivery charges which increase ($1,175).

What is the fuel consumption of Crosstrek?

You can have a four-wheel drive SUV and still get it good fuel efficiency† Using direct injection on its new 2.5-litre four-cylinder boxer engine, the Subaru Crosstrek achieves 27/34 mpg city/highway and 29 mpg combined.

The 2.0-litre engine gets 28/33 mpg and 30 mpg combined with the continuously variable transmission (CVT) automatic, contributing to better mileage.

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek hybrid achieves even better fuel economy. In Consumer Reports testing, the plug-in hybrid gets 38/45 city/highway MPGe and 42 combined MPGe. Please note that the Crosstrek Hybrid is not available in all states.

What sets Crosstrek apart from the competition?

The Subaru Crosstrek comes standard with symmetrical four-wheel drive and a ground clearance of 8.7 inches that no competitor exceeds. Crosstrek Base and Premium trim levels come with standard X-Mode for tougher winter rides and off-road excursions.

One of the major changes for the 2020-2022 models is that the Crosstrek Sport and Limited have been given a dual-function X mode for extra off-road performance. It offers a deep snow/deep mud setting.

What does the future hold for the 2023 Crosstrek?

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek is getting a complete overhaul, and there are plenty of upgrades customers want. Subaru will change the exterior with a new front end and LED headlights. Engineers will make minor changes to the rear of the new Crosstrek as it retains its C-shaped taillights. Subaru could make the new Crosstrek tailgate opening wider, making it easier to carry a mountain bike inside.

The Crosstrek is likely to get a new touchscreen and next-generation EyeSight safety technology, and the interior will be bigger. Look for new aluminum wheels and a new exterior color.

Outdoor enthusiasts will want to wait for the all-new Crosstrek Wilderness trim level. Sources close to Subaru tell us that the automaker will launch the new Crosstrek Wilderness trim level in Spring 2023.

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek is the fastest-selling model from Camden, NJ automaker, and its reliability is an important factor for small SUV buyers.
