2026 Polestar 6 EV Roadster confirmed with 884 hp powertrain
  • The Polestar 6 EV roadster has been confirmed for production and will launch sometime in 2026.
  • It will have an 884 horsepower twin-engine, four-wheel drive powertrain shared with the upcoming Polestar 5.
  • Polestar will build 500 LA Concept editions featuring exclusive details of the original 02 concept, and reservations are now open.

It really happens. Polestar turns one of the most beautiful concept cars we’ve seen in years into a production model. The company today confirmed its plans to build the Polestar 6, an electric roadster that was previewed in March this year by the breathtaking O2 concept.

That’s the good news. The less good news is that we have to wait a while to get our hands on one. That’s because Polestar doesn’t plan to launch the 6 for a few more years, until sometime in 2026. Likewise, the car in these photos is the same concept we’ve seen before. It will be featured again this week at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which is part of California’s Monterey Car Week.

When the two-door hardtop convertible finally hits the streets, it will be powered by a twin-engine, four-wheel drive powertrain that is said to produce a fist-pumping 884 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque. Those numbers may sound familiar to anyone who’s been following the Swedish brand’s other recent announcements, including confirmation of details about the upcoming Polestar 5 “performance four-door GT”. It’s that car that the Polestar 6 will share its powerful electric motors and 800-volt architecture with. The two also share a unique glued aluminum chassis developed in-house and said to maximize lightness and rigidity.

    Targeted performance

While Polestar isn’t quite ready to reveal all the tech specs of the upcoming 6 roadster – they will get closer to the actual launch – in the meantime, it has released some scintillating performance targets to whet our appetites. The electric drop-top is expected to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 255 km/h.

The other big news is that the Polestar 6 2026 will be launched with a limited production special edition called LA Concept; the company plans to build only 500 units. They all have the same sky-blue paint, a light leather interior and 21-inch wheels as on the O2 concept that set our hearts on fire. In addition, Polestar is already taking reservations for the radical roadster. Count us among those who are very excited for this to happen.
