For the 2022 Honda CR-V, it comes as no surprise that it is one of the best compact SUVs for 2022. Kelley Blue Book chose the CR-V SUV thanks to its combined fuel economy and safety scores of 30 mpg. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Honda SUV primarily received five stars for its crash tests. The CR-V also earned the Top Safety Pick award, confirming its position as one of the best compact SUVs for 2022 and 2023.

If you’re looking for something brand new, the Kia Sportage 2023 is about as fresh as it gets. With the redesigned, the Sportage has plenty of legroom, plenty of space in the boot and 187 hp. Kia equipped the 2023 Sportage with safety features such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA). Since this Kia SUV is brand new, it has not yet undergone all the usual crash tests. That doesn’t mean it isn’t one of the best compact SUVs for 2022 and 2023.
