Austin Cindric is ‘curious’ after Ford cars failed to break through the top-10 at AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway

Daytona 500 winner Austin Cindric crossed the checkered flag at P11 at Kansas Speedway. The Fords generally did not have a strong weekend in the Sunflower State. Despite winning the first race of the season, Team Penske’s driver’s performance has been mixed all season. Still, he’s had one win, one top-five and two top-ten finishes so far this season.

Cindric’s win at the start of the season secured his place in this year’s NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. However, if he wants to improve his position in the play-offs, he needs more successes and stage wins. Fortunately, there are still plenty of races for him to do this.

Speaking to the media after the race, the Columbus, Ohio native said he wished he had had more speed during the race as the top five on Sunday were in a league of their own. He said:

“I think the main thing I’m curious about is that I felt like the track had definitely changed. We were very strong there at the end of phase 2. I don’t know if it was due to the track cleaning or something, but we went from really solid – maybe a little free – to sort of back to where I was at the start of the race, really tight. I wish we had had a little more speed. I think we had to be perfect to definitely be in the top five today.”

He further said:

“We had a solid execution. Our guys have done a great job this week and have gotten used to the changes in the team and had to come back from a few issues and all in all a solid day. It’s something we needed to get podium points. I wish we had made a top 10 of it. We just missed that, but overall a solid effort. †

Cindric will try to build on this momentum in Texas.

With the All-Star Race this weekend, Austin Cindric is looking to find a rhythm in the Coca-Cola 600 in a few weeks. This weekend’s race in Texas will be nothing short of exciting as the top drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series compete against each other at Texas Motor Speedway for $1 million. Austin Cindric puts everything on the line because there are no points, just the big wallet.

Austin Cindric currently sits in 16th position in the NASCAR Cup Series standings.
