CARFAX lists the top vehicles targeted by catalytic converters theft

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Go online and you’ll see all kinds of surveillance videos capturing thieves stealing something called a catalytic converter from under vehicles. And stealing a catalytic converter takes no time. CARFAX even supplied a video to 3 On Your Side in which an actor pretends to be a thief and crawls under a pickup truck with a puzzle.

After making two simple cuts, it is easy to see the catalytic converter being removed. In total, it takes just over a minute for the converter, which contains expensive metals, to be removed. “In recent years we have seen a significant increase in catalytic converters simply because of what is in the inverter. The platinum, the palladium and rhodium,’ said Jonathan Morrow. He is the president of M&M Auto Parts.

He says that once your catalytic converter is stolen you will know because your vehicle will sound awful. So how vulnerable are you? CARFAX has just released the top vehicles that have been targeted by thieves. Number 1 on the list is the Ford F-150 and F-250 from 1985 to 2021. “The F Series is popular just because of how far off the ground they are and how much room there is to get under and around those catalytic converters. to take,” said Morrow.

Next on the list are the 1989-2020 Honda Accord, 2007-17 Jeep Patriot, 1990-2022 Ford Econoline Vans, and 1999-2021 Chevrolet Silverado. There are many more vehicles that made the list. Even the Toyota Prius is on the list. If you want to see if your car is a target, click/tap here
