We have an epic drag race for you today. We’ve managed to round up seven of Gran Turismo 2’s best Japanese cars, so let’s see which one is the fastest.

Mat is behind the wheel of the Honda NSX for this race. It has a 3.0-litre V6 engine, mounted in the middle, with 275 hp and 285 Nm of torque. This is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and the car weighs 1,370 kg.

That’s a lot lighter than the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec next to it, since that car weighs 1,560 kg. To make up for the extra weight, it produces 280 hp and 392 Nm of torque from a 2.6-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine. The GT-R has a six-speed manual transmission and, most importantly, four-wheel drive.

Next we have the Mazda RX7 Type RS. Under the hood is a 1.3-litre rotary engine with twin turbo, which sends 280 hp and 314 Nm of torque to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. As for weight, the RX7 tips the scales at 1,280kg.

Moving on, let’s talk about the Nissan Silvia S15. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine has 250 hp and 275 Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Power is sent only to the rear wheels and the Silvia weighs 1,240 kg.

By extension, we have the Toyota Supra. The 3.0-litre twin-turbo in-line six produces 280 hp and 430 Nm of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Weight-wise, the Supra comes in at 1,490kg.

Now for another Toyota, specifically the Chaser JZX100. It has a 2.5-liter twin-turbo six-in-line with 280 hp and 363 Nm of torque. This is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, and all together the car weighs 1,450 kg.

Last but not least we have the Mitsubishi Evo VI Tommi Makinen Edition. Under the hood you’ll find a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, 280 hp and 373 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed manual transmission that sends power to all four wheels. In terms of weight, the Evo comes in at 1,360 kg.

So, which one of these JDM legends will come out on top? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
