VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office has shared a video of the High Water 2 team rescuing a man stranded and submerged on top of a car in the Osteen area after Hurricane Ian flooded the streets.

Emergency services responded around 2 a.m. Saturday near Osteen Maytown Road and Shoreline Road, where they found the man stranded atop his fully submerged Chevrolet Silverado.

According to the sheriff’s office, officers had to go two miles through about 1.5 meters of water with a ditch on one side of the road and a canal on the other, while another deputy had to get out of their truck to measure the distance between the lanes. and measure the way. slot.

The sheriff’s office said another deputy had to maneuver around several stranded vehicles to make contact with the stranded man.

Using a rope safety ring and a life jacket, officers were able to bring the man to safety, the department said.
