Top 10 cars: For a very long period of time, WagonR consistently topped the sales stats, with Baleno in second place. But as of now, Baleno is the most sold PV model in India, with 18,418 units sold, a growth rate of 17.72% year over year and 2.55% month over month, with 15,656 units sold in August 2021 and 17,690 units sold in July 2022. An interest of 13.04% of this list is held by Baleno.

Sales of the WagonR are declining, which may be due to the recently released, more affordable Alto K10. In August 2022, WagonR sold 18,398 units, representing a profit of 91.90% year-on-year. However, despite selling 22,588 units in July 2022 and managing a 13.03% share of this list, sales have fallen by 18.55% MoM.

The most intriguing position is taken by Brezza in third place. It is currently the most popular SUV, easily surpassing Creta and even Nexon, which is unexpected given that Brezza was ranked 12th last month. With 15,193 units sold in August 2022, it appears to have recaptured the allure of the original Brezza, growing 17.72% YoY and 56.48% MoM.

Nexon has held the #4 position for a very long time. In recent months, it has been the best-selling SUV in India. It posted its largest monthly revenue ever last month. But that wasn’t enough to maintain the No. 1 SUV position. In August 2022, 15,085 units were sold, an increase of 50.76% year over year and 6.13% MoM, and a 10.68% share of this list. Alto was in 14th place and has moved up to 5th in just a month. As we mentioned in our review, Alto K10 is a crowd pleaser, so this is probably the secret ingredient. It sold 14,388 units, up 58.72% MoM and 8.70% YoY.

The only ladder frame van in India that currently has sliding doors is Eeco. It has no competitors, so it sells well. The MPV Triber is monocoque. It was in sixth place last month with 11,999 units sold; however, with 8.04% less sales this month than the previous one, it now ranks eighth in August 2022.

Swift’s story is even more dire as it ranked third last month and was relegated to tenth in August. With 11,275 units sold in August 2022, sales were down 35.71% month-on-month and 9.68% year-on-year.

The fourth-generation Swift is now being tested outside of India. Brezza’s success was completely unexpected and has now surpassed Nexon in terms of best-selling SUV status. The previous generation Brezza received the maximum 4-star crash safety certification and the new Brezza has not yet undergone crash testing. However, Maruti Suzuki claims that the latest models of the Baleno, Brezza, Ertiga and similar vehicles are built with accident safety in mind.
