KATY, Texas – Authorities from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division are asking the public for help identifying a suspect who hit and killed a Good Samaritan while assisting a driver with car trouble on the Katy Freeway.
Investigators say a man identified as John Carpenter helped a driver in block 23500 of Katy Freeway around 2:50 a.m. on July 11.
HCSO officials say Carpenter was in the emergency lane of the highway and was trying to get back into his vehicle when he was hit by the suspect(s).
The suspect(s) then fled without assisting the victim.
Timmerman later died of his injuries.
