When supercars race against each other for bragging rights, it should make for an exciting competition regardless of the results.
These days there seemed to be an endless influx of supercars, especially from the European side of the world, which makes us wonder which of them is actually the fastest and fastest.
The Lamborghinic Aventador SVJ and the McLaren 600LT aren’t new supercars, but they aren’t that old either.
People would like to see which of these supercars is faster than the others in a straight-line race.
Fortunately, however, Mat Watson from CarWow on YouTube saves us the hassle by hosting a drag-and-roll race between these two protagonists.
Lamborghini vs McLaren: Supercar battle with different benefits
As one of the most superior versions of the Lamborghini Aventador, the SVJ model delivers race car-like performance as indicated by the meaning of its initials – Super Veloce Jota.
But of course, other automakers have created their own masterpieces that offer a similar level of performance.
For example, McLaren’s 600LT could present itself as a good match against the Aventador SVJ.
In terms of power, the Aventador SVJ may have the edge, as the naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine delivers a maximum power of 759 horsepower and maximum torque of 509 lb-ft.
The twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 mill under the hood of the 600LT seems pale in comparison, as it has only 592 horsepower of maximum power and 457 lb-ft of peak torque.
Nevertheless, the McLaren has the weight advantage, weighing in at about 3,095 lbs, while the Lambo weighs in at about 3,362 lbs.
Mixed results in Supercar Race for Lambo and McLaren
On paper, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is faster at the 0-100 km/h sprint in 2.8 seconds.
The McLaren 600LT is not that far behind at 2.9 seconds.
In the race organized by CarWow between the Aventador SVJ and the 600LT, one supercar may be on top, but other factors, such as driver reaction time, track condition, tires and wheel drive configuration, can affect the race results.
In the first drag race, the Aventador won by a very small lead.
In the second race, however, the 600LT beat the more powerful Aventador SVJ, as it was faster at launch.
However, the rolling races — both the 30-mph and 50-mph races — belonged to the Lambo.
The rolling races benefited the more powerful Aventador SVJ, which now put more power to the moving wheels.
De Lambo broke the 2-2 tie by winning the braking race a few meters.
