The whole chin is blacked out as is the grille, the headlights look sharp and so do both sides of the bumper.

The horizontal taillights, the slats on either side of the rear bumper, the slightly raised trunk spoiler and the double exhaust pipes complete the picture.

You get cloth seats, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, LED lighting and active safety technology, but don’t get the sporty bits of the higher-end variants. On the XSE and XLE variants, the Camry offers electric front seats, JBL audio, navigation and a sunroof. The top model XSE gets leather seats with heating function, a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 19-inch black alloy wheels and much more. The V6-engined Camry starts from $32,910.

The smooth and economical performance of Toyota Camry

In this regard, don’t expect the base Camry to impress you, but the 8-speed automatic transmission works perfectly, for which it gets brownie points. Front-wheel drive is standard, but as we mentioned earlier, all-wheel drive is an option.

Of all the Camry’s, it’s the one with the 301-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 that we like. Power delivery is smooth and there’s a nice muffled growl to go with it. There’s a lot to like about the Lexus-esque feel in this regard.

We’d still put our money’s worth on the Camry Hybrid, though, as it puts out 208 horsepower with the electric motor and battery combined. The Camry is reportedly a little too soft, but it still inspires confidence. If you want a little fun, the SE and XSE variants have a lower ride height and stiffer suspension, allowing the driver to push hard.

The fact that Toyota has made driver assistance technology standard on all Camry variants makes us happy that they have made safety a priority. Other standard features include adaptive cruise control, active lane control and automatic emergency braking. Additional options include blind spot monitors and a surround-view camera system.

The Toyota Camry’s simple formula has been refined in so many ways over the years, it’s hard to nitpick on what turned out to be a great car. Sure, it doesn’t deliver the thrill of a driver’s car, but every American who owns one today has overlooked that aspect simply because it makes everything else perfect.
