FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California, June 30, 2022 – Hyundai’s all-new 2022 IONIQ 5 (built after December 2021) received an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) 2022 TOP SAFETY PLUS (TSP+) designation. The significant achievement now delivers Hyundai a total of nine by 2022 TOP SAFETY PLUS (TSP+) and TOP SAFETY CHOICE (TSP) classified vehicles in its range, one of the most in the industry. Hyundai and Genesis together have 14 TSP/TSP+ vehicles.

The IONIQ 5 is equipped with the next level of Hyundai SmartSense, advanced driver assistance systems that ensure the highest level of safety and convenience on the road. The IONIQ 5 is the first Hyundai model with Highway Driving Assist 2. Other available driver assistance systems include Smart Cruise Control with Machine Learning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Intelligent Speed ​​Limit Assist, Driver Attention Warning , High beam assistant and more.

Hyundai’s 2022 TOP SECURITY CHOICE+/TOP SECURITY CHOICE award-winning models include:

Both the TSP and TSP+ awards require a ‘good’ rating in all six IIHS crashworthiness tests: small overlap on driver and passenger sides, moderate overlap on front, side, roof strength and headrests. Award winners must be available with frontal crash prevention technology earning a “Superior” or “Advanced” rating in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. TOP SAFETY CHOICE winners must also be available with “Good” or “Acceptable” headlamps. The “plus” designation is given to models with “Good” or “Acceptable” headlamps for all trim levels and packages.
