I-10 East closed at I-10/I-110 after 18-wheeler loses charge on at least 1 vehicle

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) — Large sheets of plywood fell from an 18-wheeler and atop at least one vehicle on I-10 on Monday, July 11.

It happened around 1:30 PM on I-10 at the I-10/I-110 . fork

Officials said four people have been taken to a hospital. No life-threatening injuries were reported.

The driver of that vehicle was briefly trapped until first responders and Good Samaritans teamed up to remove the plywood from the vehicle.

Dozens of other sheets of plywood were scattered across the highway.

Large sheets of plywood fell from an 18-wheeler early Monday morning and atop at least one vehicle along Interstate 10.

It appears the wood began to fall off the truck as the driver merged onto I-10 heading east from the new Mississippi River Bridge.

The ramp is closed while the crews work to clear the scene.
