Meet the SP48 Unica, a unique Ferrari based on the F8 Tributo – Robb Report

you could be make your own Lego Ferrari – or, if you have the resources, you can just make your own real Ferrari.

The Italian car manufacturer has just revealed a one-off, custom SP48 Unica, built through the Special Projects program, that allows top customers to create unique vehicles in collaboration with Ferrari’s design team.

The anonymous owner teamed up with Flavio Manzoni, the company’s chief design officer, to create this bright red supercar based on the F8 Tributo. It has that car’s twin-turbocharged V-8 engine and probably gets the same 710 horsepower and 568 ft lbs of torque, but it also has some notable changes.

The windshield is made to look like it continues on the roof of the car.

Compared to the Tributo, this custom Ferrari has a more angular, arrow-shaped body. To achieve that effect, the headlights and taillights were completely redesigned, with the taillights inspired by the Ferrari Roma.

To give the impression that the car is made from a single piece of metal, the windshield is made with a visor effect, making it appear as if it reaches all the way to the roof. This dynamic is emphasized by smaller side windows and a completely omitted rear window. Elsewhere, the front grille has been completely redesigned to achieve a 3D effect, and the hexagonal pattern reappears on the roof and interior of the car.

The inside of the two-seater is no slouch either. While most of the technical aspects of the F8 Tributo have been retained, the color and finish have been updated to better match the custom aesthetic. Black Alcantara can be found on the seats and most of the cabin trim, and there is a red-orange fabric to match the exterior color of the Unica.

The honeycomb pattern can be found on the roof as well as throughout the vehicle.

Notably, none of these design changes tarnish the car’s performance. In fact, the custom SP48 Unica has improved aerodynamic balance that reduces overall drag by 12 percent. Hey, maybe Ferrari’s Special Projects program fits in somewhere after all.
