Porsche India recorded a 118 percent growth in new car deliveries in the first half of 2022 compared to the same period last year.
Porsche India recorded a huge jump in sales in the first half of the year. In the first six months of 2022, Porsche sold more cars in India than ever before. The carmaker, which is part of the Volkswagen group, has announced that it has delivered 378 new vehicles across the country between January and June. It is a growth of 118 percent in terms of sales compared to the same period last year.
Porsche India said the numbers are also encouraging amid some of the ongoing challenges, such as supply and semiconductor issues, that have hit the auto industry around the world. Despite the challenges, including the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Porsche India has delivered more cars to India this year than all year in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Manolito Vujicic, Brand Director at Porsche India, said the sales figures indicate that there is a demand for high-end sports cars. He said: “July will mark the 10th anniversary of Porsche India serving this region and there is no better way to recognize this than with our best-ever first half sales performance for the first half of 2022. Porsche’s all-electric Taycan was launched in India at a price of 1.50 crore. Deliveries of the Taycan EVs began earlier this year. It is available in four sedan models, including the Taycan, Taycan 4S, Turbo and Turbo S, and is joined by the Cross Turismo in 4S, Turbo and Turbo S versions.
Porsche India also said there is strong demand for SUVs in India that helped the automaker hit its key sales milestone. Porsche India sold 167 Cayenne and 125 Macan in the first six months of this year, representing nearly 77 percent of total sales. Taycan is the third best-selling model with 37 units delivered through June. In these months, the car manufacturer sold 27 units of the 911 Coupé and 19 units of the Panamera family limousine.
