KUALA LUMPUR, August 3 — The Proton X50 took the title of best-selling car in Malaysia in July 2022.
With 4,763 registered in July, Proton has achieved a high benchmark in SUV sales nationally, making it the most popular option in the competitive mid-range SUV segment.
Proton has ramped up production to accelerate deliveries to meet high demand for orders.
The national automaker sold 11,477 units in July, solving its production volume issues from the previous month.
With total sales of 71,601 units in 2022, the company is up 19.7 percent in 2021 from sales in the same period.
In addition to 1,704 registered units for the Proton X70, the automaker has maintained sales leadership in the C-segment SUV market.
Proton’s deputy chief executive officer, Roslan Abdullah, said he is extremely proud of the model being crowned the best-selling vehicle in Malaysia.
“We are grateful for the support from our customers,” he said in a press release.
“This achievement and PROTON’s sales leadership in other segments demonstrate that our business plan is on the right track and is repaying the trust buyers, investors and other stakeholders place in the brand.” He also said the company plans to continue its post-pandemic growth to double digits while keeping the prices of its cars affordable for its customers.
