Telle Tire & Auto Centers, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri with 19 locations across the state, was named this year’s Tire Rating Top shop winner. Aaron Telle, a fourth-generation tire dealer and the company’s president and CEO, and Laura Telle, Aaron’s wife and chief people officer, accepted the award at the Top Shop Summit with Tire Rating and the sponsor of the competition, Coats, attended.
“We are very honored and excited to be named Top Shop,” said Aaron Telle, fourth-generation tire dealer and the company’s president and CEO. “It is special for us that we exist for 80 years. Raised in the family business and together with my father I was able to see how we have grown. None of this would be possible without our employees and I want to thank them all for what they do every day as part of our Telle Tire team.”
Aaron took the helm of Telle Tire in 2009 with a view to expanding the business. After opening a second location in 2011, Aaron and his team have acquired a total of 18 stores in the past 11 years. With a view to growth, Telle Tire remains true to the culture that has made it a fixture in the St. Louis community. Modern and polished defines the customer experience at Telle Tire, and it boasts a multi-generational customer base. The Telles also provide for their people with opportunities for education and advancement, as well as a range of benefits.
“Telle Tire & Auto Centers epitomizes what a Top Shop is in this industry,” said Madeleine Winer, editor of Tire Review. “Aaron and Laura are very focused on service, whether it’s their customer base, their community or their staff. They have been able to adapt, grow and evolve the company in a rapidly changing industry while staying true to the family values on which the company was founded 80 years ago. Congratulations to the entire Telle Tire team!”
During the event, Tire Rating also honored this year’s Top Shop finalists: Best-One of Indy, with 15 locations in the greater Indianapolis area; and Don Foshay’s Discount Tire & Alignment, which has six locations in Maine.
Best-One of Indy, a 2015 Top Shop Finalist, turns 36 and prides itself on creating “Raving Fans” both externally and internally. They do this by being hyper-engaged with their community and creating a top-notch customer service experience, including digital communications, comfortable showrooms, and personal follow-up with each customer. They treat their team like family and adhere to four core values that govern the day-to-day running of the company and its employees.
Don Foshay’s Discount Tire & Alignment has six locations in Maine. Owner Don Foshay, Jr. says his team’s “Just Say Yes” approach and dedication to quality and speed sets its customer service apart from major retailers. Don Foshay’s has also found solutions to a tight job market by raising employee wages and the minimum wage and creating a growth path for talent in the company. Don and his team give back in a myriad of ways, including working with a store’s local court to hire inmates through work programs and get them TIA certified.
