The Fast & Furious movie series may have taken the spy highway lately, but cars are still a big part of the procedure, with Dom and his “family” often taking cool rides to chase down bad guys, flee from them, or pull off robberies. In previous movies, plenty of incredible cars appeared in racing scenes as well.
Over the course of 2 decades, the ‘family’ members have put their hands on the wheel of both expensive supercars and affordable rides. But which of the cars were really outstanding? Since there are dozens of great cars out there, it can be a challenge to pick just a few. Fortunately, Redditors have pointed out a few notable ones.
Dodge Charger R/T
DLuz0215 proudly declares: “The most famous/iconic car in the entire franchise is Dom’s black 1970 Dodge Charger.” The car appears in every movie where Dom appears.
No fictional character has a better knowledge of cars than Dom and the fact that he continues to use the Charger says a lot about its reliability. With a top speed of 255 mph and acceleration from 0 to 60 in 5.2 seconds, it’s never a surprise when Dom keeps up with the jets while on the move. And as someone who is always tough, the popular muscle car suits Dom better than any other model.
Nissan Skyline R34
dotdotman1 says the best ride is “Bryan’s car at the start of” 2 Fast 2 Furious,” of uchiha-gohan adding: “That’s my favorite too. I’ll keep driving it forza every time I log in.” The specific car in question is the Nissan Skyline R34.
Suki, Slap Jack and Orange Julius can attest to the genius of the R34 as despite their best efforts Brian easily beats them in the race organized by Tej. Thanks to its 265 mph speed, the car also has no trouble staying in the air for a few minutes. And the public can agree that if it weren’t for Agent Markham’s firing an ESD harpoon at it, Brian would never have been caught.
Owen Shaw and Vegh drive incredible flip cars during the London and Redditor chase jwood14521 deeply rooted for them. They write: “Four-wheel steering, a Formula 1 engine, a six-speed manual transmission and a straight-pipe exhaust??? That sounds like a riot to drive.”
Arguably the most unique ride in the franchise, the Flip Car reminds fans of both the Batmobile and the many great machines used in Grand Prix competitions. The front ramp makes the car a moving weapon capable of turning over most of the cars it comes into contact with. Though both cars are destroyed, their aesthetic awesomeness makes them impossible to forget,
1995 Toyota Supra MK IV
As for the best cars, IcemaanN mentions “Brian’s Supra from the end of” 7Brian drives the Supra before he and Dom take different routes at an intersection.
Just like Dom loves the Charger, Brian loves the Supra. In the first film, he uses an orange 1994 model of the same car. However, the white Supra is fondly remembered by fans for its emotional aspect. In it, Paul Walker is seen for the last time. The car used in the movie actually belonged to Paul Walker toowhich was the only time a major actor’s personal car was used during filming.
1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
In Tokyo DriftSean drives the Monte Carlo during a race with Clay and wins. This one redditor comment: “The Monte Carlo is definitely my favorite.”
The race scene in the film proves that the Monte Carlo is a car not to be underestimated. Despite only being able to reach speeds of 129 mph, he gains the upper hand from Clay’s Dodge Viper, which can accelerate to 206. Part of that has to do with Sean’s driving skills, though Clay isn’t too bad either.
2011 Lexus LFA
After the successful $100 million Rio heist, everyone can enjoy their share. Han is seen speeding with Gisele in the LFA as they go to Berlin. redditor hellsbelltrudy describes it as “certainly the best luxury car in the series.”
The LFA’s top speed of 202 mph means Han can take it on missions if he wants to. When speed is taken into account, Han’s decision to travel by car makes more sense. The Redditor is also right about it being the best luxury car, as it’s the only one Han thinks about after making the most money in his life.
1969 Yenko Camaro SYC
NotTheRocketman say “2F2F is in some thin air for that Yenko alone. That’s an extremely rare car.” In the film, Brian acquires the car from one of Carter Veron’s henchmen after winning a bet.
What makes the Camaro iconic is its involvement in arguably one of the best Fast & Furious stunts in which Brian and Roman drive off a pier and collide with Carter Veron’s luxury boat in an attempt to save Monica Fuentes. Given how fast the car moves in the scene, it’s highly likely that the Camaro has reached its top speed of 140 mph. Unfortunately it gets damaged and it is not easy to get a new one as only a few cars were produced.
2018 Noble M600
Redditor thinks there are a lot of great cars, but Queenie’s “purple Noble M600” from Fast 9 really is one of the best. In the film, Deckard’s mother drives the M600 as she flees from the police after stealing jewelry from a shop in New Bond Street, London.
Queenie’s car is indeed noble. Because it’s beautiful, hand-built and has an unrivaled top speed of 225 mph, it’s also one of the most expensive Fast & Furious cars. Those who want to acquire it will have to pay $250,000. It’s therefore no surprise that the only way a character can acquire it is by stealing it.
1966 Chevrolet Corvette C2 Sting Ray
According to dzz07another car that should be placed with the elite is “Letty’s 66 corvette in” The Fate of the FuriousLetty grabs the Corvette from the toy store before modifying and using it during the New York chase.
The C2 deserves credit for being the only car that Dom can almost stop when he goes rogue. While driving the classic car, Letty manages to get close enough to harpoon the main character. The 140mph speed helps, but so does Letty’s driving skills and the car’s overall performance. Unfortunately it gets damaged.
1993 Honda Civic EJ1
In the first movie, Dom and Letty rely on Honda Civics during truck robberies. redditor londonbluesox simply labels the car ‘a winner’.
The Civic’s reliability means fans get to see some of the best Fast & Furious robbery scenes. Compared to other cars in the franchise, the civic is quite slow (108 mph). However, the area where it surpasses the rest is stability. Truck thefts, as seen in the movies, require more than just speed and the Civic usually stays steady while Dom and his crew load the DVD players.
