Wait a minute, won’t you Toyota Tacoma has a reputation for being durable and long lasting? It would be one of the most reliable trucks you can buy. however, the Toyota Tacoma did not make it into the top 10 longest-running vehicles.
How many miles does the Toyota Tacoma last?
According to iSeeCarsthe average Toyota Tacoma model makes it to about 235,070 miles. That falls short of the drivers reporting their Tacoma models, putting it between 250,000 and 300,000 miles.
However, iSeeCars does not report the maximum lifespan for the longest-lasting vehicles. Instead, it analyzed current mileage. More than two million vehicles produced over at least 10 of the past 20 years were evaluated.
The vehicles were then ranked according to the vehicles with the highest mileage. Nearly 75 percent of the top 20 vehicles are trucks and SUVs. The Tacoma made the top 20, but not the top 10.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, Toyota Prius, Toyota Sequoia, Toyota Tundra, Toyota Avalon and Toyota Land Cruiser dominate the top 10. 248,669 miles.
This is a bit surprising. Who would expect the Toyota Prius and Honda Ridgeline to surpass the incredibly popular Tacoma?
What is the maximum life of the Tacoma?
A well maintained Toyota Tacoma can reach 300,000 miles, but some owners have reached 400,000 miles. Nearly 2.8 percent of Tacoma models exceed 200,000 miles, making it the third longest-lasting truck.
The Honda Ridgeline has a maximum lifespan of approximately 250,000 to 400,000 miles. Also, about 3.7 percent of Ridgeline models make it to 200,000 miles. The Toyota Tundra has the longest lifespan with 4.0 percent of models exceeding 200,000 miles.
But maintenance can play a key role. The Toyota Tacoma is a durable and robust truck aimed at off-road driving. It can be used to dominate trails in the woods and for more adventure than the Honda Ridgeline.
Vehicles used conservatively with regular maintenance tend to have the best longevity. The Honda Ridgeline has a one-piece design and rides like a comfortable SUV. It may be less susceptible to higher wear situations.
How reliable is the Tacoma?

The Toyota Tacoma has an above-average confidence score. It earned a score of 81 out of 100 from JD Power. Any score between 91 and 100 is considered the best, but scores between 81 and 90 are great. Scores that fall between 70 and 80 are average.
Interestingly, the Honda Ridgeline earned a score of 78 out of 100 from JD Power, making it average.
The vehicles used in the iSeeCars study were also still kicking ass. Some trucks and SUVs have a whole life left to live. It’s possible the Tacoma could retaliate.
Used Tacoma models are not considered high mileage until they approach 240,000 miles. Don’t forget to check the vehicle’s history report before making your purchase.
