While the 413 cubic-inch engine remained, a single 4-barrel variant rated at 360 horsepower was made available for the first time as standard. The 300-K had a three-speed automatic gearbox. The shifter on the Chrysler 300-K was a console-mounted lever. This made it the only Chrysler passenger car that did not use push buttons between 1956 and 1964. A four-speed manual transmission was available as an option.
