The month of October has arrived and that means the start of the holidays. This month sees another major launch from BYD and possibly two new CNG cars, which will be the first in their segment. Nissan, after a long time, will soon reveal something in India. Finally, we also see some festive seasonal additions from other manufacturers.

Here are the top five cars we expect to see in October:

BYD Atto 3

BYD Atto 3 teaser

Launch Date – October 11

Expected Prices – from Rs 30 Lakh

After recently entering the private buyer market with the e6 MPV, BYD is launching its second model, the Atto 3 SUV. The premium electric SUV will receive 50 kWh and 60 kWh battery packs worldwide, with a range of up to 420 kilometers. Onboard features should include a 12.8-inch rotary touchscreen system, a panoramic sunroof and a full ADAS suite. The Atto 3 will be assembled locally and is expected to be offered in a single fully loaded variant, priced at around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will serve as a premium alternative to the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric.

Toyota Glanza CNG

Toyota Glanza Front

Launch date – end of October

Expected Prices – Rs 8.5 Lakh and beyond

According to a recent Delhi RTO document, Toyota could soon introduce CNG variants of the Glanza. This would make it the first premium hatchback to receive such an alternative fuel version. According to the document, except for the basic variant, the other three would get the CNG option. The car’s 1.2-litre engine delivers 77 hp and 98.5 Nm in CNG mode and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The CNG variants should command a premium of about one lakh rupees over their corresponding petrol variants.

Maruti Baleno CNG

maruti baleno

Launch date – end of October

Expected Prices – Rs 8.5 Lakh and beyond

Like its Toyota brother, the Maruti Baleno is also expected to get its own CNG version. The carmaker already has seven CNG cars on offer. The Baleno shares its engine with the Swift and Dzire, which already come with a CNG kit. The power figures will be comparable to those of the Dzire and Swift, which deliver 77 hp and 98.5 Nm on CNG. The alternative fuel variants of the car are expected to cost Rs 1 lakh over the corresponding petrol variants.

Nissan’s Mysterious Car

Nissan X-Trail

Launch Date – October 18

After some time, Nissan comes with something new. The brand has not yet disclosed any further details. Here we expect the automaker to introduce the Ariya EV as a fully imported electric SUV or the X-Trail SUV, another CBU model available with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants in Europe.

Other launches

  • In the wake of Diwali and other festivals, car manufacturers were able to launch special/limited editions and new variants of their cars.

  • Mahindra was expected to introduce the XUV300 Sportz in September, but we hope to see it this month. The XUV300 Sportz will be powered by a more powerful 130 hp 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine.
