Top car news of the week: Tata Avinya Concept EV unveiled, Honda City gets a launch date and more

As automakers prepare for launches and unveilings in early May, the past seven days have been relatively slow with new car launches. Nevertheless, it was hardly boring, and we brought you several exclusive stories, spyshots and news about upcoming ICE and electric vehicles (EVs).

For all the important updates you may have missed last week, here’s our roundup for this weekend:

Tata Avinya revealed:

Earlier at the unveiling of the Curvv, Tata told us that its future electric cars will be based on a new generation 3 dedicated EV platform. This is it – the Avinya has been revealed as the first Gen 3 platform vehicle, and it previews several other future technologies, such as a voice-activated cab interface and driver assistance features. BMW i4 unveiled in India:

Electric BMWs coming soon, and the new ones i4 electric sedan is the latest entrant to zero-emissions from the Bavarian car manufacturer. It is essentially an all-electric 4 series which is offered as standard with a 344 hp electric motor and rear-wheel drive. It has no direct rivals for electric sedans yet, but in the future it will compete against the Tesla Model 3 on our market.

Skoda Kushaq Ambition Classic launched, Monte Carlo follows:

Czech car manufacturer skoda has introduced a new second-of-base Kushaq variant which gives you most of the features of the Ambition trim for a slightly more affordable price. The Ambition Classic has a suede interior trim and a contrasting black roof (white roof if you opt for the Carbon Steel Gray paint finish). We also saw the next big update of the Kushaqthe upcoming top-spec Monte Carlo variant.

Long-range Tata Nexon EV gets a launch date:

The 2022 update brings significant powertrain improvements Nexon EV† We finally know that the EV will break coverage in early May with a more powerful 136 hp electric motor and a larger battery pack. Tata Altroz ​​EV spied on:

Honda City Hybrid gets a launch date:

The Honda City e:HEV goes on sale in May as the first strong hybrid on the mass market in India. It is powered by a self-charging hybrid system and an ultra-efficient 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine. It is expected to command a hefty premium over the ICE Citybut it will also come with significantly better safety features and driver assistance systems.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class rolls off the production line:

The W206 Mercedes C-Class is a new launch in early May, and the first locally produced unit has rolled off Mercedes’ line Chakan plant. The new C-Class looks sleek with its clean body lines and is longer and slightly wider than before. You will certainly be amazed by the new interior which looks modern, stylish and several notches more expensive than its predecessor. It will probably become a more powerful later C 43 variant unveiled worldwide last week.

International update:

GM has announced that the iconic Chevrolet Corvette gets electric powertrain in the future, although the next iteration will be a hybrid. Aston Martin has also told us that it will drive electric the line-up for 2030.
