The new-generation compact SUV will pack quite a few premium features to keep up with its rivals
The all-new Mahindra Scorpio is expected to debut soon. Among the many updates, the SUV will receive a host of new features that have been spied on the test mules in recent months. These added technical and comfort updates will take the Scorpio to a premium level. Some of the features offered for the first time with the Scorpio model include:
Two-zone climate control
One of the first features spied on the next-generation Scorpio console was the dual-zone climate control panel. Allows front row passengers to set independent air conditioning temperature settings. This premium feature is not offered by any other compact SUV. The new Scorpio also gets AC vents in the rear.
A popular fitment on most SUVs today can also be found on the new Scorpio. Based on the spyshots, it will be a full-sized electric sunroof and not a panoramic.
Connected car technology
Since the 2022 Scorpio will have the latest Mahindra infotainment system with the 8-inch touchscreen display of the base specification XUV700, it will also be loaded with technology. Among its many features is connected car technology that allows owners to monitor various vehicle telematics and perhaps even some remote functions such as climate control.
Loudspeakers on the roof
Another cool new premium feature spied on a 2022 Scorpio test mule was the roof-mounted speakers, indicative of a luxury sound system. It will probably be the Sony sound system offered with the XUV700, and can be reserved for the top version

One of the feature-packed test mules for the Z101, also known as the new Scorpio, featured a colored display between analog dials for the speedometer and tachometer. This display is probably the same 7-inch unit as in the XUV700 MX, which can convey a wide range of information to the driver.
360 degree camera
An increasingly common feature in the Indian mass-market space is a 360-degree camera that will also be offered on the new Scorpio. It’s a particularly useful feature in an SUV of its proportions to make navigating tight spaces easier.
Captain’s seats in the middle row
The new Scorpio will be offered with three rows of seats, all facing in the right direction. Surprisingly, a version of the upcoming SUV was spied on with captain’s seats in the middle row. When used as a four-seater, the Scorpio could offer a much more premium and spacious cabin experience than most of its rivals.
Mahindra is expected to officially unveil the new generation Scorpio in May with the launch soon after in June. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engines, with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions. The 2022 Scorpio will likely be priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom) and would be a more robust alternative to that of the Hyundai Crete† Kia Seltos† Nissan Kicks† Skoda Kushaqand Volkswagen Taigun†
