Two Good Samaritans rescue woman from burning car on Southern State Parkway

PRESS RELEASE

On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at approximately 8:29 PM, state police responded to a call for a motor vehicle collision on the Southern State Parkway eastbound east of exit 35 in the city of Babylon, Suffolk County.

The driver, Nancy Brady, 58, of West Sayville, NY, was driving east, in a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, on the Southern State Parkway when her vehicle drifted off the roadway, crashed into a tree and caught fire. Two Good Samaritans, Christine and Karl Ott of Sayville, observed the gravity of the situation, sprang into action and rescued Brady from the burning vehicle.

Brady was transported by the Suffolk County police helicopter to Stony Brook Hospital for her injuries.

The collision is still under investigation and state police are asking witnesses or anyone with information to call (631) 756-3300.
