VW builds its best-selling electric car at its Passat factory

The plant is currently building Passat and Arteon’s medium-sized combustion-engine cars. Production of those models will continue until the Passat is replaced in 2024 by a new generation that will be produced by Skoda alongside the Superb at Skoda’s plant in Kvasiny, Czech Republic.

The Arteon will be replaced by the Aero B all-electric coupe-style sedan that will go into production in Emden next year.

As part of the overhaul of the factory, VW added six production halls and five transport bridges, as well as logistics buildings of approximately 125,000 square meters.

The ID4 is VW’s best-selling all-electric car, with 163,000 units sold since its launch in early 2021 and more than 30,000 units sold in the first quarter.
